Lush Dirty and Vanillary

When my friend received Mint Meltaways by Fannie May® as a gift for Easter, all I could think of was how pretty and decadent they looked. Their pastel color palette and their minty, sweet taste and smell made me think of my two favorite Lush fragrances, Dirty and Vanillary. I was excited, and I asked my friend to take several pictures of the mints with the fragrances. The outcome was lovely!

Discovering Lush fragrances has been an interesting little rabbit hole I entered over the past few years. After trying them several times, I realized they aren’t all for me and, interestingly, I enjoy the ones centered on notes I don’t always go for the most. Therefore, describing these fragrances has been a bit more challenging, but, seeing other bloggers talk about Lush fragrances and the most recent discovery boxes inspired me to give these two fragrances a little love.

Dirty

I like that the fragrance’s name suggests the exact opposite of what it actually smells like. There are no earthy, spicy, or animalic notes here, but a predominant, energizing spearmint note escorted by herbaceous thyme, tarragon, and lavender. My favorite part of the fragrance is the dry down, which features a dry, slightly dusty oakmoss note. I love to use Dirty with warmer temperatures and when I exercise. I own the 30 ml Eau de Parfum bottle and the body spray.

Notes are listed as they appear on the Lush website:

Spearmint, tarragon, thyme, lavender, neroli, sandalwood, oakmoss.

Vanillary

Described as a vanilla-toffee fragrance, this is the most gourmand offering of the line. I have this in the solid perfume format, which reminds me of vanilla-scented bread. It’s sweet, but there’s a yeasty and buttery quality that makes it enveloping and comforting. The Eau de Parfum version has a boozy caramel note that isn’t great on my skin, so I definitely prefer the solid perfume version. The jasmine isn’t prominent on me. This feels more like a wintery fragrance because of the sweater-like enveloping quality.

Notes are listed as they appear on the Lush website:

Vanilla absolute, jasmine absolute, tonka absolute.

Both fragrances are available as Eau de Parfum (100 ml and 30 ml) and solid perfume in Lush stores. Other scented products are available too.

I reviewed both fragrances from my own purchased bottles.
