L’Atelier Parfum Rose Coup de Foudre

I welcomed 2022 with a fragrance centered on a sparkling and refreshing rose note with a bubbly champagne accord (read my full review of Der Duft Bubble here). Because I have recently been enjoying fresh and cheerful fragrances even in chillier weather, I thought I’d keep up the trend and feature a fragrance that stars a joyful and icy rose.

Inspired by thrills and heartbeats, Rose Coup de Foudre by L’Atelier Parfum is a fanciful and imaginative fragrance that surprises and excites. Its elegantly crisp composition revolves around a frosted rose accord that catches you off guard like love at first sight, and, over time, slowly melts you with its breezy and tender touch.

I imagine the aroma of roses immersed in the green of a garden on a winter morning, their petals fragrant, light, and flecked with frosty dew drops. Over the course of the day, I imagine smelling the air laced with wet leaves, wood chips, and pebbles drying in the sun.

The opening is zesty and green dappled with tart berries. This bright beginning quickly announces a translucent and water-splashed rose that melds with a luminous and lemony magnolia. The fragrance lives on my skin as a cool and citrusy rose with slight aquatic hints for all its duration. Later in its evolution, it reveals musky and woody facets along with a dash of golden amber that never weighs its composition down. It’s a modern and effortless creation with a radiant sillage.

Rose Coup de Foudre was created by perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur for L’Atelier Parfum, the French brand founded by Mikolaj Pietrzak and Masha Russac, former executives in the beauty industry and lifelong friends whose passion for fragrance, cosmetics, and nature came together to bring this project to life. It was launched in 2021.

Notes are listed as they appear on the brand’s website:

Top: Green Notes, Bergamot, Blackcurrant

Heart: Rose, Frosted Rose Accord, Magnolia

Base: Woody Amber, Musk, Patchouli

The Paris-Grasse brand includes seven fragrances as part of a collection called Opus 1 – The Secret Garden. Each one is created by a renowned French perfumer and produced in collaboration with Robertet. The collection’s intent is to spark playful emotions and creative whimsy through confident, elegant, and wearable fragrances.

Each perfume is paired with a textured color palette that matches the overall olfactory sensation and confers an artistic quality to the minimalist style of the packaging. The paint-stroke, ink-diffusion effects on the boxes and on the inside of the flacon labels are a distinctive and original touch.

My two other favorite creations from the line are Belle Joyeuse and Douce Insomnie.

Inspired by lipstick and Paris, Belle Joyeuse is a flirty and juicy bouquet with a lively raspberry note that reminds me of a modern lip gloss.

Described as a fragrance for intense nights, Douce Insomnie is a delightful blend of sweet spices, creamy coffee, and sandalwood with dusty floral hints.

You can find more about the fragrances’ concepts and olfactory pyramids on L’Atelier Parfum’s website. All fragrances are available in Eau de Parfum concentration in 100 ml, 50 ml, and 15 ml flacons.

The full bottle of Rose Coup de Foudre and the discovery set were kindly gifted to me by the brand. Opinions are my own.
